Meet The Horses
Our mission is to nurture body, mind and spirit through God and horses.
Hello, I am a Mustang and was gathered by the Bureau of Land Management in Bald Mountain Nevada in 2009. As “Boss Mare” I see to it that we all do our jobs. I have extensive training and take great delight in working with riders who come to me in a wheel chair. In my spare time I enjoy doing dressage with Mary Kay.

You can just call me RES. I helped Mary Kay build this riding program and she says I am her #1 ambassador! My size and confidence come in handy on many occasions. My ancestors were some of the horses of the Native Americans and were very important in keeping the Appaloosa breed from becoming extinct.

Hi. It is déjà vu all over again! I lived here a while ago and now I am back. I lived with a really nice lady, Carol, in Maryland for the last 6 years. During that time, I have learned many cool things. I can shake hooves, give hugs, and give kisses. The best thing about this whole thing is that my pal Sprite came back to the ‘Burgh too!
Breeds: Trakehner/Missouri Fox Trotter/Hanoverian

Hello everyone. I am a miniature painted horse. Small but mighty! I can do everything those big horses do! Pearl is my new BFF. She is just the right size for me to hang out with. Pearl and I do obstacles and we like to teach people about groundwork. I am glad I came here from Maryland with Spirit; he would be lost without me.
Breed: Miniature Horse

I am a quiet, confident and happy guy. I know my size helps those riders who need a strong horse to help them out. It doesn’t hurt that I am extremely good looking too! The instructors sometimes call me the “Barometer” because I am very good at mirroring my rider’s emotions, which comes in very handy to help riders build self-esteem.

All the horses here are great, but just between you and me, I am the best! I can do lessons for people at all levels. I especially love to show my athleticism and entertain my riders by leaping over the creeks on trails! Mary Kay says my gold color makes me look like the treasure I really am.
DOB: 2004
Breeds: Welsh Pony/Selle Francais/Fell Pony
I am the newest kid around here. I am not even a year old yet! I came to OVS in Fall of 2020. I am very sweet and kind, but I have a lot to learn! The humans are trying to teach me good manners so I can do the important jobs that the big horses do. I have some big horseshoes to fill!

Hi all, I love it here! I came from Arkansas to live with some of my siblings, Levi, Rosie, and Earl. Richard is my best friend and says I am the best trail horse around. I am also learning to be an adapted lesson horse, because Richard knows my kind and confident personality can be helpful to many people.

I admit, I like to play tricks on people. I do lots of different lessons because I am strong and smooth to ride. I like to make lessons a little more fun by picking up cones or gently knocking over barrels when I think no one is looking. The instructors get frustrated with me but I love making the kids laugh! Sometimes people call me “Nebby” but I am not quite sure what that means.

I am a real people horse. I love to greet anyone who comes in the pasture, and I really love to try to steal anything I can off of Mr. Soergel when he is trying to work in the pastures. I am learning to be brave on trails, but I really enjoy showing off my athleticism in the arena or ring.

Goodness sakes! What is all the fuss about? We all know I am the star! I do many types of lessons because I am calm and confident. Not a whole lot seems to ruffle my feathers…err, I mean hair. I can do all the obstacles calmly and confidently. My laid back personality is great for riders who need help building confidence.

Good things really do come in small packages, but believe me, I can hold my own when it comes to the big guys in the pasture. I don’t let anyone push me around! I really enjoy pulling a little cart that is almost as cute as me. I like to work with kids and adults who do not prefer to ride. I show them how cool it can be to be different.

Hi, pardon me, but I’m a little shy, and I am Tessa’s close friend. Learning is easy for me and I am very good at teaching my riders more advanced skills. Mary Kay says I am pretty smart and very responsive. I was born on a ranch in Arkansas and came here with Toby and Huck.

I am a beautiful blue roan quarter horse mare from a ranch in Arkansas. Mary Kay likes me because I am kind, calm, and confident. I am just the right size so it is easy for people to get on me from the mounting block. I absolutely love to be groomed and pampered, what girl doesn’t??
